Philadelphia Employment Discrimination Lawyers Discuss $40 Million Lawsuit

The commercial real estate giant of Cushman & Wakefield is being sued for $40 million by a former female executive who claims the company discriminated against her on the basis of her gender and age. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired from her executive position at the company the day before she was to turn 60 years of age. Instead of being promoted to a position for which she was highly qualified to assume, the ex-employee asserts that she was fired and replaced by a 39 year-old male who was less qualified.

The employment discrimination lawsuit asserts that Cushman & Wakefield violated federal and state laws that protect employees from being discriminated against on the basis of age or gender. Moreover, the suit claims that after 40 years of employment with the company, the plaintiff was wrongfully terminated and denied promotion, pay and other privileges that her job and promotion would have afforded. The plaintiff had relocated to San Francisco, California in 2006 after working for the firm in New York City for 26 years.

Apparently Cushman & Wakefield are no strangers to age and gender discrimination. In 2013, a former executive employee sued the company for $20 million after she allegedly was passed over for a promotion when the company hired a younger male for a position for which she was more qualified to assume. The plaintiff was suing for unpaid wages, back pay and damages when she settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
