The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released its fiscal year 2016 Performance and Accountability Report. The agency aims to help employees and employers resolve and prevent workplace discrimination throughout the country.
According to the report, the EEOC has secured over $482.1 million for victims of workplace discrimination, including $82 million for federal employees and applicants; $52.2 million for private sector, state, and local government workers through litigation; and $347.9 million for private sector, state, and local government employees by means of mediation, conciliation, and settlements. In addition to handling workplace discrimination complaints, the EEOC also provides no-cost education and training for employers to help prevent discrimination in the workplace.
