Several women accused the actor James Franco, a recent Golden Globes winner, of inappropriate sexual behavior. One actress posted on the social media site, Twitter, that he allegedly sexually assaulted her against her will while they were a couple, and that he attempted to lure an underage friend to his hotel room. A student who attended his acting school claims that he exploited her by requesting she remove her clothing for a role. Apparently, the student also accused him of failing to offer speaking roles to actresses in his productions unless the parts required nudity. The accusations came after James Franco won a Golden Globes trophy at the show, and wore a pin in support of eliminating sexual harassment from the industry.
Back in the fall of 2017, sexual harassment and misconduct accusations against producer Harvey Weinstein erupted in Hollywood, making waves in the industry about the prevalence of toxic behavior in the entertainment world. James Franco is simply another example of this type of behavior that has prompted an international protest against sexual harassment and misconduct in the workplace. Unfortunately, Hollywood is not the only industry where this occurs, but this has encouraged other businesses to take a closer look at their policies, and crack down on the negativity.
