A nursing company formerly in the employ of past Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Stan Lee have accused him of sexual misconduct. Allegedly, the creator of Spider-Man and Iron Man sexually harassed and groped numerous female nurses from the company he hired who were assigned to care for him at his home in West Hollywood, California. Additionally, they allege that he requested sexual favors from the nursing staff. Stan Lee’s lawyers deny the claims, and state that they were unaware of any civil action or police reports filed against him. His current nursing company says that he has not engaged in this type of behavior with their staff members, and have treated the new nurses with respect.
No matter what type of industry or work arrangement, workers are entitled to a safe and comfortable work environment free from abuse or harassment. Both verbal and physical harassment receive the same consideration in a sexual harassment case, and may be equally offensive and traumatic to the victims and even colleagues present when the toxic behavior occurs. A hostile work environment may lower morale among employees, and also curtail the success of a business.
