The law firm of The Gold Law Firm P.C. is representing the plaintiff in a reverse discrimination lawsuit against an energy company. A former executive of PECO who is a Caucasian male filed a claim against his employer, citing that reverse discrimination led to his dismissal. The claim details that the plaintiff received stellar reviews for his work as a recruiter.
Once PECO began its Accelerated Workforce Diversification program in 2016, he alleges that circumstances changed for him. He objected to the policies instituted in the program that called for him to hire employees based on race and ethnicity to fulfill the 70 percent diversity requirement under the program. He was reprimanded by the company for not adhering to the new guidelines by hiring more than two Caucasian males. Allegedly, PECO retaliated by putting him on probation and subsequently firing him, which he believes occurred because he is a Caucasian male and challenged the company’s hiring practices by referring to them as discriminatory.
Employment discrimination may adversely affect a diverse population of workers whether it be due to race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. Although discrimination at work may be challenging to determine, if you do believe that you are experiencing discrimination by an unlawful termination, for example, you must realize that you may be entitled to file a claim against your employer.
