Philadelphia employment lawyer, Sidney L. Gold, recently obtained a $9.5 million settlement in a ten-year old class action lawsuit. One-hundred former employees of Owens-Illinois brought the claim against their former employer. The former workers were long-term employees with the company when the company sold, preventing them from collecting their entitled retirement benefits.
Mr. Gold, of Philadelphia’s employment law firm The Gold Law Firm P.C., was co-counsel for the group of employees, along with the Console Law Offices LLC. The settlement approved by a U.S. district court judge allows each former employee to receive the original retirement benefit they were eligible for, in addition to a lump sum settlement amount.
The substantial settlement is a significant accomplishment for Mr. Gold who tenaciously pursued the claim for the workers over a decade long period.
