Company Closings and Shutdowns
Under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN Act), employers of a company that is closing are required to notify its employees at least 60 days in advance of the expected closure date. Failure to comply with this law can hold employers liable to pay employees the earnings that they would have made during the period they should have been on notice. Sidney L. Gold & Associates advise all employees out of work due to closings and shutdowns to contact an experienced and competent employment lawyer to determine if they have a possible claim.
