In 2015, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) determined that sexual orientation discrimination is a form of gender discrimination, and it violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Now the EEOC has filed two landmark lawsuits that will test its interpretation of the statute. The lawsuits have been filed on behalf of two workers against their respective employers, one in Pittsburgh and one in Baltimore, alleging harassment based on sexual orientation.
