A former student of Malvern Preparatory School has filed a lawsuit claiming the school was negligent for failing to prevent a swimming coach from sexually harassing him. According to the claim, the harassment continued for more than a year from March of 2014 to May of 2015. The plaintiff in the lawsuit claims he reported inappropriate texts and emails swim coach and guidance counselor Emily Feeney sent him; however, school officials did not take action to stop the harassment.
Feeney was arrested on sexual assault charges in August of 2015 and admitted to seducing the plaintiff. The sexual harassment lawsuit the student filed alleges that Feeney’s misconduct was “open and observable,” and Malvern Prep should have investigated and stopped it sooner.
