The Philadelphia chapter of the Guardian Civic League has made allegations that there is a systemic problem with sexual harassment and assault against city workers. The organization, which represents African American and Latino police officers, claims that more than a dozen women have been assaulted or harassed on the job. The group is giving a voice to the victims and advocating for their rights.
According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), it is against the law to harass a job applicant or an employee because of that person’s gender. Harassment may include unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature, or offensive remarks about a person’s sex.
